During the festival in Pasturana, Artigian Ale by BI-DU brewpub has been elected Craft Beer of the Year.
All the 30 beers on tap at the Festival were judged both by a jury of selected beer tasters (including myself!) and by the people who attended the festival. The two graduatories were then weighted to obtain the final placings.
Artigian Ale had a clear victory, being n.1 according to the "experts" and n.2 in the "popular" rating. BI-DU won also the third place with their Rodersch, the second place being assigned to Re Ale by the brand new Del Borgo microbrewery.
Also a "Most Original Beer" graduatory was voted, and both the popular and the expert jury agreed on Febbre Alta by tiny Troll brewpub. Fleurette by Birrificio Italiano was second, followed by Artigian Ale (again!).
See the Unionbirrai site.

Huge success for the greatest craft beer festival in Italy. 15 microbreweries with 30 unfiltered unpasteurized beers, all always on tap, for a total of over 4000 litres! And also guided tastings, beer competition, music, food and beer informations and gadgets. All this happened in Pasturana (AL), from 27 to 29 maggio 2005. Check the ArteBirra site.
